Pre fabbed sealed box...OK??

I don't know man, you will be $50 into that before you know it. I personally would not go that route when there are good box builders around. I am not saying that box is definitley a POS, I just wouldn't spend the cash to find out.

Well...that carpet is ugly as hell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Lol, yeah i know. But it's for straight function, not really appearance. As long as it does the job, that's all i really need.

as long as it is the volume you need, should be ok
x2

usually, prefabs are poorly constructed and tend to fall apart. my friend's was being held together by carpet.
i've have a prefab stand up to 2 15" Brahmas... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif maybe i'm lucky

Yes, generally speaking a sealed prefab box can be fine, so long as its constructed well (obviously).

The concern I have with this particular box is, after briefly looking through the ad, it does state its made of mdf, but I didn't anywhere that it stated the thickness. That makes me wonder if its made of 5/8".

Your probably right that that is 5/8" MDF. Is that a deal killer or can 5/8" still be ok? I am gonna email them and find out

Well they brag up that its mdf, but then use an inferior thickness? That's about the same thing as using an inferior mat'l like particle board but going 3/4". You want the box as solid as possible, any flex in it is loss in speaker performance. If I were you Id have one of trusted locals to this board make you a box, you'll know its not gonna show up with some major flaw like that.

Good luck.

I wouldnt buy it, I have seen prefabs put together with hot glue. THey fall apart. For the price of getting a quality prefab (there are some around) you can have one built or build your own to accomadate your space and fit your sub's specs better

you could probably make your own sealed box in a couple hours.

it's just that I really have no time or desire to do so. no tools, workspace nothing so that is not an option

I actually just read a review on here of someone getting that same box and they said it was built pretty sturdy.

I will probably just get it and see for myself. it's only about 45 shipped so if it lasts a year, i can be happy with that. thanks for all the help guys!
