Power wire question?

Hi everyone I currently have installed a alpine mrp-f300 200 watt rms total .I used a 8 gauge scoshe wiring kit that worked great. My question is I wanna install an 80 watt powered sub next its a sound solutions b-8p. So I was wondering what would be my best option would be for the power wire would it be better to install another power wire separate for the sub I think I would be ok with a 10 gauge or can I use a distribution box with the 8 gauge then run 8 gauge to my amp and powered sub. The total watts would be 280 my power cable is 16.5 maybe a little less and if I did my math right the amps would be about 41 for the powered sub and the alpine amp. Any suggestions would be great thanks

If it's pure copper AKA OFC 8 gauge wire, it *should* be okay up to 50 amps, I think you'll be okay, you'd have to be running full tilt for awhile to even get close to the 41 amps, however, I will say that's it's best to run to largest cable you can afford because you never know when you're going to upgrade. I haven't looked at the Scosche wire you're referring to because they make varying sizes and different qualities in those sizes. What is the fuse by the battery rated for? If you can run another 8 gauge line or even better take out the current one and install a 4 gauge run to a distribution block down to 2 8 gauge runs that'd be better. Good luck!
