Power Wire Gauge for 2 Amps

I need some help determining the appropriate wire size for my power supply. I currently have 1 amp (RE Audio DTX 16001) and 1 sub (RE Audio SE Xv2-12D2) installed from my local shop, but want to also install a new amp and component speakers for my front. I have an Alpine MRP-F300 on the way that i intend to use for my front speakers (not yet picked out).

Would the existing 4ga power supply be adequate for both amps or would i need something bigger? I plan to use a distribution block to the two amps but want to make sure I'm using the correct wire sizes.

I would go to a local shop again but the more I look around this site, the more I want to try and do it on my own. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

You'll need a fuse distribution block, one that has at least 1 4 gauge output, and 1 8 gauge output.

The RE amp calls for 4 gauge, but the Alpine amp needs 8 gauge. Look for a distro block that say's 1 4 gauge in (from the battery) and at least 1 4 out (to RE) and 1 8 out (to Alpine).

May be overkill for you, but this would do: 2 Way Distribution System

yes you can. It will work just fine. No need to run a new wire at all. Just get your distribution block connect the 4 gauge wire in and then the two power wires out to the amplifiers. I have a 0 gauge going to a block then two 4 gauge coming of of it to the amplifiers and haven't had a problem yet. I also don't have it fused at the block. Just up front by the battery.

I think you will be just fine to be honest. Id run it and check it after hammering on it quite a bit and check the temp on the wire by hand to see...

Oh, total opposite. i play with storage bins full of wire scraps from past installs for fun. I hoard decent grade wires from audio homies...

If you have multiple amps you do not need to run a power wire from each amp to battery.. You can have a single run of wire with a distribution...
