power wire/Distro block, fuse holder quality

Anyone give me some input as to whether or not power wire, fuse holders or distribution block quality matters? There are so many different price points for what appears to be the same wire, is it just a different color or is there something I am missing?

Same thing for fuse blocks and distribution blocks, what benefit to upgrade to the model layered in genuine saskatchewan salmon skin as opposed to gold plated? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

LOL, I live in Saskatchewan, we don't got no salmon around here.

Just huge, blood thirsty mosquitos.

As for the quality of power wires and fuse blocks, the electrons don't care what they look like or cost the energy will flow the same.

Some have more resistance to corrosion and tarnishing that is all.

Corrosion is usually only a problem in weathered areas like the inside of the doors and at the battery terminals, OFC copper wires (oxygen free copper) is good for in the doors as it resisists corrosion well, at the battery terminals there is alot of spray on products to reduce corrosion at the battery terminals, I just use vaseline (anything that reduces the metals exposure to air and moisture but still conducts electricity will work).

it does matter about the brand of power wire.. here is a sample from some bad experiences I've had.

brand doesn't matter. Who you buy from does. While I'll admit that strand count may be lower in some brands and higher in others, there is a standard that is supposed to be followed. If you buy from a poopy store, prepare to get the shaft.

If you're looking for wire and distros. Id highly recommend Johne here. Gets you good wire and supplies way cheaper then any good internet store. And an awesome guy to deal with.

It's all a matter of preference. Some people are brand loyal...others are not. Some people have lots of money to spend on expensive wire...others don't. I wouldn't knock someone for going either way.

as you state there is a standard that is supose to be followed.. so brand does matter. the wire I got was 8 guage wire in a 4 guage casing pretty much. it even said 4 guage on the side.. obviously it wasn't following the standard...

I'm just trying to say be carful because you get what you pay for..
