power cap ???

first i want to say im one to say no to a power cap. i had one hookd up with my last system in my buick. any was i have a 2 farad cap. should i wire this thing up to my bass amp its 1440 watts? or will i be wasting wire? im kinda like trying to find a way other then ho alt or big 3. i dont have the money for the h o alt and my car might be on its way out. nor do i have the time for the big 3. and i cant seem to trace my ground wire it goes under my engine block.

yea i know i just had to cut my gains down and level down tonight. i was geting dimming. not to bad but i just did not want it to dimm. im so mad tonight guys. i want to give up on car audio i have been trying. its just the girl that lives next door had a nice system i have more highs then her and it sounds better and i have more bass but with every thing tuned low i got nothing. she got me beat. i dont know if she got lights dimming or waht. but im being out done by a girl who had a box and ampp thrown in her car i really dont know her or if a shop pt it in. im on here every night trying to learn stuff. and she out doing me. i hate this. i really gota upgrade my electrical system. i went to school to fix electronics not cars

if i could add more to my last post and try to make more sense of it i am nervous to do the big 3. i here u guys. u know big 3 and a better battery. but man i just am doubting my self. i looked today and i just couldint trace my ground from my alt. its some were under my enine block

you don't have to use original ground locations...the only requrement to be the same is the alt+ to batt+...other than that you can ground alt case to chasis/frame and batt - to the same location

leave the stock wiring in place and you will be fine

i checked out the big 3 thread. but how u said that, that shit made sense to me. dont worry about what wires are there im just adding more or less right? the ground that can be connected to spot thats metal near the alt?

preferably the mount from alt to block

don't you want to ground engine block .....not alt.

who cares if a girl beats you, i ask mine to beat me all the time.
and how the **** is a cap gonna help you get louder?

AND who cares about a little dimming, i had my shit turning OFF and still turning it up. *****.
your alt. won't last you long=battery won't last to long either.. good luck with that

i did mine to alt/block mount because I wanted a circuit with least resistance between alt and batt and the purpose for the chasis/frame ground is to complete the circuit in the trunk....

^^^^horrible explanation....but im not too good at explanations

edit: I have an aluminum block, so it doesn't do too well anyway:p:

well when the bass hits the light would dimm not when i im driving only when im stoped.i pulled in to a old gas station a few hours ago and stoped put on a bass cd and watched the lights dimm then get bright then dimm back down. and i was geting volt drop down to 12.7 and 12.8 then back up to 14.4 then back down. i dont want to do damage. i had posted befor about me coming to a stop and my volts going from 14.4 down to 12.8 or so. i think with a 1440 watt amp not bridged and a 2 channel 200 watt amp and levels and gains set low and this happing i need a ho alt or at least 105 amps or so. thanks

the problem is not the wiring in this case, it is the low rpm of the alternator....at idle, the alt does not spin fast enough to produce the amperage you are demanding from it.....fix is alt with higher ratings at low rpm, or smaller pulley on the alt
