The unit you are looking at is made from particle board. The unit I suggested is made of MDF. Much better material and once put together it is much sturdier. This thing is like a rock!

Yes you will encounter some heating issues. THis is what I did to rememdy the problem:

I took the back cover to my buddy's house and had him rip 4 inches off on his table saw. Now there is a 4 inch opening along the top of the rear. Makes for great airflow and It really made a difference.

You can see what I am talking about here:

The wall is visible if you get down low enough to see through the cracks between the shelves.

Here is another thing I did:

I took a circle bit (like one would use to cut a hole in a door for a doorknob) and drilled a 2 inch hole on the back side of each shelf and dividing wall. THis way I was able to route all my cables inside the unit without unnecessarily cluttering the rear. By doing this, I am able to push the cabinet about an inch or so from the wall leaving just enough room for my power conditioner plug. Things are nice and tidy in there!

ok before i leave to go pick it up

does the ir part of your remote go through the glass? or am i gonna need a repeatter or do you use the rf instead?

im thinking worst case scenario ill just take off the front glass windows till i get a new remote or pick up some repeater later and some fans for the back of the stand

No IR issues whatsoever.
dang man that tv stand took me like close to 2 hours to built! hahahahahah

and one fudged up thing my rotel doesnt fit in the middle well it mmight but it wont have any room to breath //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

oh well its dang sexy

btw

so what do you or any recommend i do

put the fans so they **** in air ????

or

put the fans so they **** air out of the tv stand????

I would put that Rotel out in the free air so it can breath frealy. It can generate a lot of heat... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
x2 on that 1loudsuv

It took me 3 hours to get mine together!

I wouldnt put fans in there as they are either going to draw more dust. Cut the back cover and you will get a natural air exchange (hot air rises and by doing so will draw in cool air.
