remember when you didn't have much money, and had to check out the pawn shops for used equipment? ever find a wicked good deal, as in they didn't know what something was worth because it didn't have the "big" name like rockford or whatever?

before JL audio was big, like early 90's, i found 2 12" JL's, don't remember what series, but they were dvc, sounded awesome, and the pawn shop thought they were generic, so i got the pair, almost new, for $60.

But to answer the question directly....

Some years ago I happened across a set of RF "The Punch Classic" SVC 8 Ohm 10s for $45/out the door for the pair.

Stuck 'em in a box and rocked them for close to 4 years before selling them to my ex-landlady who is rocking them still. So - I paid less than $50 for them and used them for almost 4 years.

Sold 'em for $100 to someone who has been rocking them for 5 years or so now.

Not the greatest sounding subs by any means but for the price two different people have paid for them second, third, fourth-hand or whatever they've sure been reliable! (rated at a mind-numbing 100w RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif)

Bought an Audiocontrol EQX at a local pawn shop for $10 .... they had put it in their "broken" section of electronics and was on discount. However, there was nothing wrong with the EQ, see they saw the little red light on the front of the EQ not lighting up when they tried to power it with a power supply... too bad the dummies didnt know that was a PEAK LEVEL light, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Got a Zed Audio Usa2075 before I knew just how good the Zed stuff was. By the time I knew what I had there was one amp left...a 2100. Ironically I sold the 2100 and have kept the 2057. Other finds were an Alpine 7390 (tape deck-back in the day this was an awesome radio) and an old alpine 3522 that I rocked with for years.

oh yeah that made me remember, at that same exact pawn shop I purchased a "Hott Setup" 2150 sx amplifier .... in immaculate shape for $70 ... When I went in the pawn shop and saw it, I thought I was seeing things when I saw the $70 sticker on it. I immediately took out my wallet and gave him the cash right there. After the transaction, I asked him "hey, do you know what you just sold me???" ... he just gave me a blind uneducated stare and said "some cheap amp"..... I just LAUGHED right at his face, took my amp, and walked out.

for people who dont know, The Hott Setup was a fairly rare brand circa 1992 which actually had the Orion 2150 SX motherboards in them. They retailed at the time at $800 a pop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Bought a set of Polk DB 12s from a local pawn shop in very early 2000 (older models with the 400rms/800max and the .88 cu ft sealed recommend box)

Those subs have been in 7 cars between me and my cousin and still worked perfect to this day. They saw anywhere between 100w rms to around 400 over the last 7 years.

I just sold them to another cousin who wanted a lil something in his Crown Vic for $60. Not bad for a $100 dollar investment I made 7 years ago!!!
