Should Post Dumping Be Allowed?

If people can't find out if something is "overpriced" on their own, that's their fault. I've PMed many sellers before stating what the usual going rate is for things, and that they'd get a lot more interest if they lowered their price a little...they normally change it.

I agree 100%

This. And the biggest problem I see is the post dumpers have no intention of buying anything. If you think a price is too high make an offer for a price that you find reasonable.

EBAY is full of scammers...so you can't base on what something used being sold on ebay...maybe when its a new item...sometimes the seller might not be aware of a price decrease from when they purchased due to be a closeout model now...and the newest thing when bought...think about the SOB's that had to have a Warhorse for $5000 a year ago and now they can be had for around $1300...Plus a lot of refurb shiit on ebay looks like it was beat to shiit and through the ringer yet they claim minor scratches from being used...like I said ebay is full of scammers
So is this place. I've been scammed on here before but never on ebay, and I've done more transactions on ebay.

I think it should be no , except for cases like the one that got my first ban ever. Dude had a AQ 2200D or 1200 , i don't remember. But anyhow he had it up for 5 dollars less then retail and he wanted to charge shipping too. It wasnt new , had nicks and scratches on it to i believe. I called him out and said "dude i can get it new with a warranty for less than you are charging" next day i can't log in.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif and most of you guys know the story after that. LOL.

IMO I think that if its some crazy price then a good "your f***in crazy may be needed" lol... but most of the time a PM with a link of a similar item or whatever that sold for less would be more acceptable, espicaly if you want to purchase the item yourself

You do realize that's basically the definition of post dumping right? Why didn't you just pm him? Or let me guess, you had no intention of buying it in the first place....

Your right , i had no intention of buying it. Just thought his price was ridiculous and i was also a noob to the classifieds section and didn't know i was breaking rules. Moral of the story here...........rules are posted for a reason.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Using the term 'post dumping' gives it an inherent negative view (no offense to OP, he was just using the term we all understand here). I am one of the only 2 people who voted it should be allowed. To me, if a person is offering a fair price, it should be easy to defend, and in fact in the past Ive used 'post dumps' as an opportunity to point out why my price was fair. You can get it on ebay for 10 bucks cheaper? Fine, but will it come in pristine condition like the one Im selling. Or does the ebay item come with the extra features Ive added? You think what Im selling is junk? Fine, let me explain better all the advantages to owning this particular item.

Sure, if someone is just trolling the classified to make trouble, action should be taken to discourage that person from continuing. But someone just posting "my cousin sold his cheaper" comments are so easy to pick apart that they really dont bother me much personally.

Im fine with the no post dumping rule, its premise is understandable: ethical behavior and common etiquette. Im just saying it wouldn't bother me a bit if the mods here lightened up on the rule some too. *shrug*

Hey! I've got an idea! Why not put yet another incredibly gay icon that I can click on to say I think the price is too high, or that I like the seller, or that the photos suck ballz, or that your shipping price is way off, or you need to have your username next to your items. We can have tons of fun with all the resulting hearts, skulls, X's, unicorns, and whatever other gayness might arise, plaguing every bit of free space with a cute and colorful icon, and a numerical count right next to it.

I'm incredibly serious when it comes to audio but you would never know it judging by my posts. That's exactly why I chose this site over all the others when I began looking for one to frequent. I was yawning on the other sites and I quickly grew tired of the snobby attitudes and know-it-all quips. Here, I was constantly laughing my ass of at the vulgarity and wildly varying sense of humor that everyone offered. As someone else said, it's like the Wild West of car audio sites, and precisely the reason I come here. I've learned plenty, too.

Let's face it, it daily life there are many opportunities to make a smart remark that will make others laugh, and yeah, maybe someone gets butthurt for a few minutes (myself included!), but they're usually over it pretty quickly and all is well. They keep coming back don't they? Why should this site be any different than daily life? I say take the opportunity to say something smart. I say just laugh to yourself when someone says something smart to you, then give it back if you want. I'm guilty of messing with people on occasion and I've been messed with plenty. I love it. But I also believe in balance. I help as much as I play, if not more. If you want everything to be so proper, go to a religious forum and spread the good word. Feel wholesome and fulfilled.

Leave shit alone!!! Stop changing the appearance or "improving" things based on votes that only newer members are taking part of because you already lost your real clientele after the big changeover and putting on 17 year old mods. Or... Keep fucking things up so you can lose the remaining figures who make this site just bearable as it is. I already hate the way things are compared to how they were at my join date and I can't imagine what a great place this was when so many quality members were so frequently posting away with intelligence and humor; no matter what the section was! Hell, I would even be willing to put up with the stupid blackout that was guaranteed to happen every night.

Whatever. Not sure why I even bothered with that.
