Yes, I did. I thought they were, so long as it was not advertised that this was a substitution for a banned word. But either I was mistaken, or the policy has changed. In either case, its been made pretty obvious that that is a substitution for a banned word, and is no longer acceptable (or never was, if I misspoke). Sorry for the confusion, but yes, please stop using substitutions for banned words. Thank you.

There is nothing wrong with Bobb doing what he can, as a member, to help improve this site. If you cant understand that, that is not Bobb's fault. There are a lot of members here who do their part to help the mod staff 'keep order' and point this site in a positive direction (either by helping keep a watch for problem posts/threads, or even simply by just being helpful members in the tech section who spend time answering questions). There are two extremes in this regard, the helpful members, and the trouble makers. I dont expect everyone to fall into one of those two categories, in fact I expect most people will remain somewhere in between. But I do expect members who dont do much to help out, to not make fun of those who do. Please respect that. Thanks.

Sometimes the best way to learn is to teach, which is what I'm doing.

And in that given situation, I don't think that an infraction/ban would be necessary for the one supporting the OP. I think that deleted poasts would be a better choice. But that's not up to me.

I cant speak for all mods, as ultimately we all are put in the position of making judgment calls every single day here... but I always try to simply delete posts that break the rules but without malice (such as your off-topic reply to the 'prick'), but hand out infractions/bans for people with malicious intentions or whom I know/feel is knowingly breaking a rule (which is where the judgment call comes in). If you have a post that gets deleted, dont take it personal. If you got more than a deletion, an infraction, then I apologize but tbh its not always easy to make the judgment calls we make (and I have no idea who the mod in question was). I can honestly say I believe in the integrity and judgment of every mod we have here now, but that doesnt mean one will never make a mistake or simply make a judgment call I would have done differently. Like Bobb said, if in doubt, the safest method is to use the PM feature to express yourself in that type of situation.

One more thing to add is, sometimes with some members past actions/attitudes can affect a mod's judgment of how to handle a situation as well. Im not directing this at you specifically, but each member should be aware that as mods, we have a responsibility to minimize trouble makers, so pushing a mod's buttons just to have some fun may not burn you in the short term, but often will in the long run. We are people too, and we cant be expected to have infinite patience.
