For me ( I have a daughter ) it would depend if I caught him before, after or during whatever he was doing. If I were to see him standing in the room I would give the fvcker one chance to stop where he is while the police were being called and if one move was made a shot to the leg would ensue. If I were to find the fvcker doing anything to my daughter I would have to instantly end his (obviously miserable) life.
The reason I say if I caught him before he did anything is because my daughter would have a bad enough memory having a prowler in the house or her room but to add seeing the event of a person dying right in her bedroom would be too much unless I was given no choice. Personally I hope I NEVER EVER have to take a human life.
I agree with you 110%, Adam. Not once in a million years can I imagine actively
wanting to take someone's life.
Having said that...
With all the sick twists that inhabit the Earth nowadays (and the accelerated rate at which the press sensationalizes stories of this nature lately - knowing that some of these perverts are just wanting the publicity/exposure that results) I am not willing to take the risk of waiting
any amount of time to find out what that person's intentions were.
There's an instantaneous imagined private conversation that would take place in my head - and it would be something akin to talking to my 2 yr old but thinking of the intruder as the other participant...
Me: Is that
your room??
Intruder: No.
Me: Did you ask to go in that room?
Intruder: No.
Me: Were you invited in that room?
Intruder: No
Me: So do you think it was a good idea to
go in that room?
Intruder: No.
Me: Well, you know what happens when we do things that are bad ideas, right?
Intruder: No.
Me: *BANG!*
The only part of that conversation that the intruder is actually privy to, however, is the very last of my statements and it won't be spoken.
And the sad part is - if all you were to do is wound someone to keep them from escaping while the cops were en route would be to open yourself up to all kinds of civil litigation from either the intruder and/or their family that more and more nowadays you're likely to lose.
No, thanks.
If you break in my house and I find you anywhere near the kids regardless of your intent (I won't bother to ask) it will be the last mistake you ever have the chance to make.
