Possible JL Problem...

I originally had two 10" JL W0 subs in a closed box. Recently both those subs blew because (I believe) I pushed them two hard when it was too cold outside. So...

I just bought two brand new 10" W1v2, in the same sealed box with a brand new 500 watt Alpine MRP-500 amplifier. The problem I am having is these subs sound nothing like my previous subs, to me they sound worse, not in quality but they do not produce any power bass. Before my rear-view mirror used to shake down, now it shakes a little bit but not enough to make it move. Everything on my deck, Alpine Ida-X100 is set to maximum for subwoofer and the Amplifier is set to almost MAX for bass.

I guess I am wondering what could be causing this issue? Could it be the cold weather? Could it be the other amp settings, one thing I know is my car battery is definitely on the way out. The lights dim on the slightest of bass, could that cause the subs to not hit as hard? I am just looking for some possible suggestions. Thank you in advance, any other information needed please just ask.

You should never have any settings maxed out. I'm sure that's why your previous subs blew. Yes, low voltage can cause issues. Do some work to your electrical system and learn how to properly tune an amp. There are stickies on the big 3 and gain setting that can explain this further. You could also have the subs wired to an undesireable ohm. Box could also be unsuited for them subs. Just a few things that can greatly effect your setup.

r u the guy that came to a couple TNE events in '09 from watertown area?

Crossover and Gain are set fine, I guess I should have been a little more specific. My bass isn't maxed all the way out or close. I just had it tuned at the place that does all my work and I guess when I looked at it I thought it was close to being maxed out but when I went back the AMP to check it, it is not even close to maxed out, I apologize for the previous wrong information.

So with the AMP settings cleared up, could it really be the box? I mean a JL W0 and W1 are almost the same exact subwoofer except the W1's I just bought have a different face and are made of different material, all rubber/plastic versus my old W0's that were plastic with the foam sh*t around them. I really appreciate your guys help, it's nice to get other peoples information who are clearly more knowlegable than I am when it comes to car audio.

I'll be getting a new battery probably next month, but would it be worth getting a capacitor? I know for a fact that I should be getting more kick from these subs. Once again guys, thanks in advance for the help!

PS: No I am not the guy who came up to to Watertown.
