Ported or sealed with Alpine Type R's?

I just got some new Alpine Type R's and have heard they are better in a sealed box than a ported? Opinions please... I have a hatchback.

definitly ported. what doyou mainly listen to? people will give you shit, but that woofer does have potential to sound good ported. a friend of mine built the box to alpines specs and it sounded pretty darn good. he was mainly into techno/rock/rap

they are a more SPL oriented subs, i would put them in a box that accentuates their qualities. id go slot port with quite a bit of port area. they will sound a little peaky but will wang in their sweet spot.

why a slot port and why lots of port area. you know that the size of the port and the length when compared to the box volume are extremely important. you dont want to tune too low. many symptoms come with faulty box design that effect the amp as well.
