Ported 12 vs Sealed 15

Hello. I am new to these forums but been into car audio for about 14 years. I have an SRT4 and I currently have a Kicker CVR 12 in a ported box on a BD500 amp. I am pretty happy with it but I just want more. I only want to sacrifice 2-2.25ft3 of space in the trunk. I have pretty much decided to upgrade to the CVX series (not a Kicker nut-hugger, just get a really good deal at a local shop).

My problem, do I run a single 12" CVX in a 2ft3 ported box, or a single 15" CVX in a sealed box? I listed to ALL music... Rap, Rock, Pop, Country... But I want a LOT of bass.

i have found my ported 12 and sealed 15 to be around the same volume,hawever my ported is tuned low(28hz) if i tuned it higher im sure it would be louder than my sealed 15,just wont sound as "good" to me

Thats a good point.... Also, for now, the single sealed 15 box would be a quick/easy build. I've built probably 30 sealed boxes, and I have yet to attempt a ported one..... Every time I punch in the #'s to build a ported box, the port ends up having to be like 16" long and I just don't wanna mess with that.....

I might as well call it Canada, I'm from Malone NY. It's honestly about 7 miles from the Canadian Border....
