I haven't read any of the posts but if this has been said then sorry. but if va tech runs out, its gonna be hard to keep them out of the bcs championship game. texas doesn't play a ranked opponent until the conference championship game and this could cause texas the shot at the championship game.
btw the BCS systems sucks. Playoff system please.

To make a drastic move in the BCS a team really needs to move up in rank or steal some votes, and unless Texas plays a close game against a weak opponent, or Va Tech totally dominate against Miami and FSU off the field, I don't see that happening. They are something like 4 or 5 tenths of a point behind, in the BCS, that's a lot. We'll have to see what happens this week to get a better perspective.

Edit: Texas has two top 10 wins, if Va Tech beats Miami that will give them 1 top 10 win. Texas is 3-0 against top 25, Va Tech is 2-0. All 3 of the teams texas beat are still in the Top 25, Only 1 of Va Tech's wins is still left. Again, non of this matters anyway if Va Tech loses Saturday. I doubt strength of schedule alone will pull va tech over Texas in the BCS.

The big ten is by far the toughest league in the NCAA.

They may be really tough this year, I'll agree to that, but the SEC is the toughest conference. It's just brutal this year.

Miami's a good team, though...they always have the talent. That's what happens when you get some of the better recruits in Florida.

Good point on the rankings. You also have to look at the overall records of each teams opponents

USC barely beat Notre Dame, and the ball should have been spotted where it went out of bounds, which was at the two yard line. Lineart wouldn't have made it into the endzone from two yards out, and Notre Dame would have won.

Notre Dame SHOULD have won, but they are a hell of a lot better team than most of the teams Texas has played. That push Reggie bush gave Leinart into the endzone was illegal too, but hey, SC won.

Notre Dame wouldn't beat a team with a good defense. That's the only reason they even stayed in the game. USC defense is weak. They're offense is arguably the best, but there are at least 15 teams that have defense's just as good if not better. Really, the only shut em' down D this year that I've seen is Va Tech. I could be missing a team or two, but I few teams with a 'D' as good as FSU, Oklahoma, and Va Tech were noted for having several years ago. Maybe it's just offense has gotten so good.

You have to consider the WHOLE team not just offense and defense. USC owns everyone in special teams, because Reggie Bush is freeking absurd. Who wants to kick-off or punt to THAT guy? I have to stick with SC- they have one like the last 30 games in a row you know.

No doubt the SEC is the strongest conference. That is why Bama should be given a shot at a title if they win their regular season games and the SEC Championship game.

Oh I agree, you look at the team as a whole, but defense wins championships. Go back in history and take a look at the last 10 champs and see where their defense ranks. Some great offenses come to mind, but I've seen some great offenses get stunned by a great defense. You show me a team that can consistently put pressure on a QB, and I'll bet 9 times out of 10 they win the game. A team with a great defense can always help bolster there offense.

Big ten is tougher than the SEC ... if you look at the history of each conference you'll understand why. I dont just look at the current year when analyzing a football team or conference. Im sorry, but the Big Ten > SEC.

either way, both are tough conferences ... which is why they are rival conference's. Props to both.
