I will agree on the NCAA > NFL. College football is like nothing else. I also agree that comference strength should be judged by looking back. When you do that I think that you will find that the SEC has had more Ranked teams and more National Championship teams than the Big Ten. Either way, at least neither is like the ACC where FSU runs the table on very weak teams all year and then crys about not being ranked higher.

no, not how tough a conference is in a GIVEN year, how tough a conference is period.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif This does not make ANY sense. Take a conference that was tough 10 years ago, but isn't currently tough; by definition, they are no longer tough.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif At looking at the past to see how tough a conference is in a given year, that's just retarded. The SEC is better this year, and the Big Ten is a perenially overrated conference.
I don't know if I'd necessarily agree with the SEC being better this year. Auburn isn't as good as they were last year, UF hasn't even been a real force in the SEC for a few years. Tennessee has gone downhill, LSU isn't quite as good, but probably closer to the powerhouse they were last year than any of the teams listed above. The only team that's really improved is Alabama, IMO most of the other teams have taken a step back, some more than others.

We could debate this forever, which would be mind-numbingly boring.
That's true, but each person follows each conference a little more closely then the other. For instance I can't tell you a **** thing about the PAC 10 or any of the mid/western conferences, but I can tell you about some teams in the SEC and ACC. So each person has a little something different to bring to the table, so I take it all in and make my own assumptions also. So it's not exactly boring, but when you've payed close attention to a certain conference over the years you get a good idea of who's improving and who's not.

What I hate is all the Pac-10 teams that are good right now, I hate. SC, UCLA, Oregon. Dammit. At least the Huskies **** ***- has a program ever fallen farther faster than that one? My Osu Beavers are taking them on Saturday and i'm makin' the roadie to see, though after our lovely choke against Arizona last week, I have no freeking idea what to expect. And look for Oregon to plummet in the rankings, as they lost their senior starting QB for the season to a broken ankle.

Correction - VT and Miami have the best special teams in the country. Just because Reggie Bush can return punts doesn't mean the rest of their special teams is anything noteworthy.

Are you giving props to teh team that is going to beat V Tech on saturday?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Have you seen USC's special teams play? The best running back/kick returner in the world doesn't run them back for touchdowns without good execution of the blocking scheme up front. How many returns for td's do VT and Miami have this season? I would love to tell you exactly how many Bush has, but I couldn't find the stat before losing interest. It cannot be denied that Bush is a gamebreaker, and probably the best RB in the country. Stop making me defend a team I hate.

There's more to special teams than kick returns...the number of kick returns for a touchdown does not measure how well a team's special teams is.

Exactly. With a good special teams, the other team is lucky to get the **** ball off the ground.

Ask WVU what that does to a game //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
