polarity question...

ok this might be somewhat of a noob question...and i might be totally off on this one..

but say theoreitcally you face to subs towards eachother... and you should change the polarity of one to help phase cancelation...

now when it comes to mids/tweets ect... if you're cars setup has the speakers more or less facing eachother.. would this still hold true? or is it somewhat different because of distances/frequencies/mono? and would actually more cancelation..?

Ummm I could be incorrect. it is late and I am tired. But actually reversing the phase would CAUSE cancellation while facing each other. Due to when one is pushing forward to create a wave the other would would be retracting. on a 40hz cycle this just would be repeated many more times and I would think it would take away from the output drastically. you should try it and let us know. But I am pretty dang sure I am correct here. The two speakers will just be push pull and almost completely eat the wave before even leaving the "chamber" between the two boxes

2 subs facing each other should be wired the same way. You would reverse the phase on one if one was inverted. The back wave of a woofer will cancel out the front wave, that is why there is a baffle separating the two waves.

Well remember. unfortunately there are a lot of idiots out there. once a guy told me "if you cover up those big holes in the boxes it will be like 10 times louder" he was talking about my ports.... idiot

True. But you'll know if you are getting cancellation. Plug one sub in, then plug the other in, it should get louder with the second one playing also, if it gets quieter, its wired wrong and the phase needs reversed. Thats the general idea.
