Ok I'm going to make an enclosure for m 99 silverado ext cab. I was going to fiberglass the bottom part and mount sub on top pointing upward ? Is this a good idea or will I get better sound pointing it down to the floor. I havent decided on a sub yet.

Heres what I have to work with. I can add .5 " or so inches if I lift the rear seat with washers or something.

I like it pointed upward toward the seat. That way the woofer wouldnt be damaged by passenger's feet or something along that
how are ppl gonna get there feet on the cone if its pointing down?

Down is the way to go, with like a 1" lip front and back of box. so the air can move out on the sides, is normaly how ive seel all the installs.

I agree, put it facing down with 1" from the front.

I did an install in a Chevy ext cab with a pre fab dual 10 box, they were mounted facing up towards the bottom of the seat.

When doing final listening checks I thought they sounded good and gave good butt massage when sitting in the back.

Down firing is ideal in my opinion but up firing will work very well and allow you to see the woofers in action when the seat is folded up, and also make replacing blown woofers easier.

In conclusion- Your safe either way.

I did my 02 X-cab facing up. They hit really hard and I had no problems with the passangers. I did make the box 7.5 OD, thus meaning that there was a 2" wedge from front to rear that acted as a spacer for the heavy passangers. I also made the box go across the hump for one big box and mounted the amps behind the rear seat. That will get you a little more air space instead of mounting it in between the two subs.

Subs do not need to be 'front loaded' to acheive proper performance. In fact, it can cause some complications over a more tradition direct firing installation. But in this case, Id certainly down-fire into the floor to allow the sound waves to reflect back up, rather than up into the seat where the waves will no doubt be (partially) absorbed.

**** I wish I had that much room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I have a 01 F-150 Supercrew and am going crazy rung to figure out how to make a box for it.
