plexiglass box?

expect to spend around a grand on a full plexiglas box.
its not very scratch resistant at all either.
I think you could get by a bit cheaper these days for a whole enclosure, but for a "first enclosure" I don't recommend it lol. Buying it thick enough to be sturdy and having it bent for you will cost a large amount.

A cheaper way is as stated, just have an enclosure build/designed with a plexi "viewing area". This by far much much cheaper.

The box would look awesome, but as stated above, it would cost you out the arse

I got a quote from an acrylic company for a record player plinth (I provided the blueprints). They quoted $350.00 ... I built one myself with some scrap lying around instead. The project took 3 months and turned out looking ok, not bad for a first attempt. Thats my 02

yea, plexi is doable, but a few problems that you'll run into with it, that will make it extremely dificult as your first enclosure... not thick enough, or braced enough, and it will have horrible flex.... too thick, and it will be too exspensive. you also need a certain amount of specialty tools when working with plexi... which can add up. having someone else cut, baffle, and drill it for you would also be pretty exspensive.

like others have said... if you want to go fancy, just do a viewing window... and i like bubba's idea with the mirrors
