howdy fellas. i'm planning a little project for my civic hatchback and i'm looking for some input or recommendations.
first off, i am on a budget. i want a reasonably nice sounding system (and by that i mean a good step above stock), but i'm in a pretty high car-theft rate area, so i don't want to hate myself for dropping hundreds or thousands into the system...
my plan -
headunit: STOCK haha. i don't want anyone seeing a cd player. at. all.
cd player: in via universal fm modulator - so i can hook up my netmd walkman and play mp3s (since my primary source of tunes will be a lossy format, i'm not 100% concerned about best sq)
amp: up in the air on this one. i want a 4 channel amp that pushes at least 50 watts to each channel, and it needs speaker level inputs.
speakers: i have a set of crystal 6.5" components in front from which the tweeters were stolen. i plan on moving these to the back and putting them on a custom built rear deck/hatch cover (hopfully it'll look similar to stock). and i plan on getting some 2-way $100 bestbuy specials for the front (infiniti kappa or some sort of mid-grade pioneer, i think).
the rear deck speakers will be used for my bass, exclusively, and i was wondering what would produce the best bass out of 6.5" woofers; should i mount them open-air style, or would they be better in small sealed enclosures suspended from the underside of the rear deck (i'm not too bad with building speaker boxes)?
so... any recommendations or input on this plan?
thanks
