Ruger is based out of Conneticut...I do think Strum & Rugers family line are German though. I am not sure where they are from.rugers for teh win! dam nazi's know how to make a good pistol!
i was told after wwII the people who made luger wanted to disassociate themselves with the nazi's so they made a new company called ruger and came to america or something.Ruger is based out of Conneticut...I do think Strum & Rugers family line are German though. I am not sure where they are from.
very cool gun, i believe they just came out with a newer model of it too. i would rather spend my money on something else. if you want, i have a ruger 10/22 40th anniversary model with a tasco scope on it that only has only been taken out shooting once. just never really use it. i would sell it if the price is right, FFL only.get a ruger mark III .22, those things are so fun to shoot. cheap, reliable, overall great guns.
i couldve told you that gun was old school.. my buddy's got a colt 45 from the early 1900s and it looks almost modern and it was issued to the US military back then and its in very nice shape.. your gun looks old school compared to it too.. ill take it off your hands for 150. i bet it still shoots just as good as it did back then..I thought it was a 1996 gun, not a 1896. Hell, Iam not even gonna think about shooting this thing! I might look into sellin it tho, iam not in a desperate need to be strapped. I would be happy wit $200.The finish of the gun is a Blue finish, the grips look to be pearl, however there is no owl head on it. It may not be pearl, but looks like it except more brown, might just be from age.
THanks for your help.
I would be afraid to shoot it, but it seems to be in good mechanical condition, the trigger is a little stiff and hard to pull tho. It was made for black powder I believe, so it would prolly blow up with modern ammo.i couldve told you that gun was old school.. my buddy's got a colt 45 from the early 1900s and it looks almost modern and it was issued to the US military back then and its in very nice shape.. your gun looks old school compared to it too.. ill take it off your hands for 150. i bet it still shoots just as good as it did back then..

For some applications a .44 Magnum is simply too much gun as the New Orleans PD found out when they got sued (and lost, bigtime) for multi-millions of dollars due to a civilian getting killed when NOPD still carried .44s.45 > 9 anyday. .44 > .45 anyday though.
and your point? too much gun. a guns job consists of one thing, to kill. period. that gun gets the job done. if you want to talk too much gun, look at the raging bull line from taurus. .500 mag with like a 10" or 13" barrel. For some applications a .44 Magnum is simply too much gun as the New Orleans PD found out when they got sued (and lost, bigtime) for multi-millions of dollars due to a civilian getting killed when NOPD still carried .44s
