Pioneer vs. Eclipse

Well... Yeah, Im not sure what i wanna do right now.

I want a new deck thats for sure. Im looking at either the Pioneer Preimer DEH-880PRS or the Eclipse CD5000.

I definately like that both have an internal xover. I know the Pioneer has a 3 way, but im not sure wether the Eclipse is a 2, 3, or 4 way.

Which would you pick? Im looking for a combination of quality, features, durability, skip-resistance, and value.

Says on the site for the Eclipse:

I just got rid of my Premier 780 and recently installed an eclipse CD7000 in its place.....Eclipse all the way, the pioneer is so picky with CDs, if you have one scratch on it it wont play it.

Lol the cd7000 is confusing, gonna take some time to get used to it.

A friend of mine owes me some money... If he pays me, ill wait an extra 2-3 weeks and work even more those weeks, and buy the Pioneer AVIC-D3.

Ok, lets put looks and fancy crap aside. I would have to say the Eclipse hands down for the quality of the deck, quality of the sound and all around adjustability.

The onboard EQ and time alignment alone are worth it.

Well im not going for monster sq... Im going to be running a bunch of Eminence 6.5s, 8s, and tweeters. So things such as time alignment arent that important to me.

Im just wondering what the all around better deck is.

Should i just wait and get the AVIC-D3?

Might as well get a sony unit from walmart for $80, won't hear a difference between any of the decks with those speakers.

But, if you must.I'd go eclipse, that little almost navigation thing sounds cool.

I was in this situation last week. I ordered the eclipse then ended up canceling it because it has no detachable face(something I need). Went with the 880 instead. I'd be all for the eclipse if it had a detachable face.
