Pioneer vs. Eclipse

car alarm/better parking spots/tint/not blasting my stereo in the city are all better than compromising a better performing head unit IMO...... but in the end it is what YOU like... but since this was a thread asking for advice/opinions, i will stick to my guns... I have an Alpine 9813 and would like to upgrade. Im looking for a head unit that is ipod ready, something i dont need an adapter or anything for. Will the eclipse do this?

Its a pro audio speaker. And? It has a voice coil, a cone, a magnet, a surround, and a spyder just like any other speaker out there.

Its built to be used in mainly applications other than cars. Whats your point? Im looking for something to be very loud, not sonic bliss.

Screw it, I think im just going to get the AVIC-D3.

I was in this situation last week. I ordered the eclipse then ended up canceling it because it has no detachable face(something I need). Went with the 880 instead. I'd be all for the eclipse if it had a detachable face.

The 5100 does have a detachable face but loses the 8v preouts this year i believe.

You know it a funny thing. Pioneer head units look damm good. My X-990 Excelon with the way you can change display modes is simply beautiful. That Eclipse 5000 anyway you look at it is just ugly. However, it is a fabulous deck. If you could only put a towl over it. LOL If you can get past the looks, that Eclipse is a winner.

You know a funny thing, drugs can make you forget that you have already done stuff... eclipse is the winner... in my case at least. Have one sittin right here in the box waitin to be isntalled... but no no no the alarm comes first... thats sittin under the eclipse cd5000... get the cd5000 for a couple reasons ... a it isnt ugly b. its dirt cheap on ebay and finally because you wont find a head unit near the quality for the money....

I just got rid of my Premier 780 and recently installed an eclipse CD7000 in its place.....Eclipse all the way, the pioneer is so picky with CDs, if you have one scratch on it it wont play it.

Sounds like installer error to me. I've owned many Pioneers in my days and have never had a problem with skipping.

I voted the 880 because it has more tuning flexibility and the time alignment is WAY more flexible on the 880. The CD7000 is a much closer comparison to the 880. The 5000 doesn't really compare to the 880.

Ok, lets put looks and fancy crap aside. I would have to say the Eclipse hands down for the quality of the deck, quality of the sound and all around adjustability.The onboard EQ and time alignment alone are worth it.

Very wise decision. One you won't regret.

get the cd5000 for a couple reasons ... a it isnt ugly b. its dirt cheap on ebay and finally because you wont find a head unit near the quality for the money....

B. It may be cheap, I've never looked at the price because I couldn't get past the looks.

C. The 880 is higher quality and goes just as cheap as that atrocious head unit.
