I like my 9886, cant really adjust much but dont need to, it sounds pretty good to me. Plus I love the ipod navigation.

No, no... The problem is that I'm sober, and this thread was filled with phale before I got here.

And Alpine HU's blow compared to equally priced Pioneer units.

I'm never gonna upgrade, but I've always wanted to try an alpine deck but whats irking me is the lack of features built in to the ones in my price range of $300 or less. what I don't know and couldn't tell when I listened to both of them was why one was better or worse than the other

If u can purchase used u can usually find a 880prs or a 9887 in your range.

Dollar for dollar? No. I prefer my 7 band eq on my $200 pioneer, whereas my $250 Alpine had only 'bass' and 'treble'... along with BBE... which was about useless.

Between their top of the line products, I can't really tell a difference. Alpine's processors are more flexible than the P9, but both transports are excellent...

Unless Alpine has completely changed their software in the last couple years, the Pio 880/800 still has a leg up on the Alpines - having 16 band graphic EQs for each channel, instead of one 5 band parametric for both, is a handy feature //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
