pioneer REV series??

hi guys. well, i dont have the cash to get a really high-end set of componants, so i was thinking just a set of these for the time being. NOT particulary from this ebayer. i just pasted any addy. they are pretty much the best pioneer makes i assume. any got any? how do they sound?? tnk!

I have the TS D160R (2004 Models) and I think they are great. The Highs are very clear and in the proper install the midbass is excellent . The key to making these work well for you is the proper amount of power . I am currently using the Pioneer GM 4000F briged to provide 70 watts RMS .

oh, i forgot to add, i wont be getting the tweets/x'overs , just the speakers. would i miss a lot without the added parts?

well that link has 2-way co-axials so the tweet is mounted in the middle. not like components.

The tweeters are permanently mounted...no reason not to use them. And those do not have external crossovers (that I am aware of).

yeah, the tweeters r alrealy mounted on the middle of the speakers and these speakers don't came with crossovers. they only came with bassblockers alrealy mounted on the magnet.

well, on the ebay site, it says they have a built in crossover on the amp. also, if bassblockers are built on the magnet, does that mean you wont get any bass notes at all? or is there some type of switch to activate bass block??

Those ones in the link ARE coaxials, but there are Pioneer REV COMPONENTS, with seperate tweeters and external crossovers, and yes, I thought they sounded pretty **** nice for the price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Typically they only have a highpass crossover on the tweeter ("bass blocker"), and then nothing on the mid.

They are two way because they have a mid and a tweeter. Three ways would have another speaker, four ways would have two more, etc. Not sure what the other speaker in a three way would be, unless its an additional tweeter, with each one set to play certain frequencies.

anything over 2-way is stupid in a coaxial. You gain nothing but tinnier highs. those REV's have a silk dome tweet though.. pretty smooth.

I've had the coaxial REV's amd the components too. The coaxials rock, the components.. not so much. The mid is good, but it pops really easily. I've seen the mids blow, both powered from an amp and powered from a HU.

3way co-axial = marketing gimmick

actually the tweeter uses a 12db hp and mid has a 6db lowpass on the coaxial. I used the coaxials a few times for rear fill. Great speakers. The tweeter is EXCELLENT, uses a tuned rear chamber too which helps with lower frequencies.

I have heard the Rev comps and they are great for the money, but my old PRS set was much better. The REv comps need quite a bit of power to get really loud, probably clipping your amp thats why they popped easily.
