when i went to the premiere with the higher voltage preouts, the output level increased dramatically. the good SQ i just attribute to the premiere line..

Many things could have caused the difference.

Different settings between the two units. Improper gain readjustment. Etc etc.

But a higher preout level will not create a difference in output, assuming you properly readjusted the gain setting.

i did reseet the gains.. was able to turn it down 30% of the whole dial.. i guess the jvc double sucks, cause they have low pre out voltage and crappy SQ too.. which is what i was basically saying before..

And I was just pointing out that a headunit doesn't inherently "****" because it has a low preout voltage.

Some highly regarded and "sound quality" headunits have very low preout voltages.

yeah, i can totally buy that.. cause i had a kenwood years ago that sounded AWESOME and had 2v (or less preout voltage)

I have a JVC Arsenal KD-AR360, I'm upgrading to a Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT as soon as I have the cash...

Go with Pioneer you cant go wrong with that. If you wnat to have bluetooth in your car go with 980 if not go with the 880, it'll save you money plus you can always get the Bluetooth adaptor for the 780, 7800, 880 later on.

I've owned a JVC HU .. man let me tell you .. my brother was a retard for buying it. it was the KD-G700 i believe. It had very minimal options to adjust. The sound quality got bad/horrible about 38/50. My New pioneer unit has so many features and i put it up to 46/60 without distroting. The sound quality is about 5x better than my JVC unit and gave my sub a lot more thump. Best investment in my car audio equipment.

I am looking for a HU to replace the stock unit. I have noticed many of you promoting Pioneer 880.

I only want to spend about 200 bucks, are the pioneer decks priced at $150-200 quality units for the price???

kewl, thanks for the input. I am not new to car audio, but I have been out of the loop for a couple years. It's amazing how quickly things change. I would not have thought to look at Pioneer until I saw everyone raving about them. I am from the old school when Alpine and Blaupount was shyt.

I like the 4800 and the 5800. very reasonable $ seeing as I just dropped some coin for a sub and box both made by Memphis. Thx for the input:veryhapp:

np ... a lot of Alpine users on this forum are changing to Pioneer for one reason mostly .. the way it looks. i read that a lot of CA.com members think the new alpines are fugly .. i enjoy the pioneer because of the OEL display + options. Hope you get a nice HU
