Pioneer Premier: DEH-P980BT

Pioneer Premier: DEH-P880PRS

JVC: KD-AVX2

Want great sound quality (not perfect but good)

Want EASY-TO-USE/VIEW ipod controls

Looking to amp the whole system (1 for sub, 1 for speakers)

Want the head unit to look good, impress i.e. JVC styling

if the system is amped with good speakers does the choice in these three head units matter that much?? i am favouring the jvc headunit on looks/features atm but i want a quality sounding system

is the 880 really that good of sound quality?

any help would be appreciated

The 880PRS is the closest thing to a flawless deck I have ever owned, I can't find anything I dislike about it. Had it about four months now.

Yes the head unit is the source of the music, you could have the best speakers and amps in your system but without a decent head unit it will still sound like crap. Im not saying you must have a $1000 dollar head unit to get good sound cause most peoples ears are not that good and wont be able to tell the difference I know I cant. You probably would be alright with either im just a big fan of pioneer. Ive never owned any high end JVC but I have had their mid level stuff and wasnt impressed at all. Most importantly buy what you feel is best for you. Go to some shops and mess around with some head units. For instance you may feel one sounds better but its functions arent user freindly, only you can choose which is more important to you.

i cant say about the jvc avx2, but my last HU was a kd-dv5000.. 500$ retail.. and it sucked ***. my sound quality and output level shot through the roof when i went to the premiere p860mp.. night and day difference..

It does seem some days that the majority of your posts are different variants of the exact same theme, yeah...
Because apparently some days are filled with more misinformed posts than others //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
