Pioneer Premier P780, P880 PRS, or Eclipse 8445

880 > 8455

I've currently got the 880prs installed in my car and it is a wonderful deck. It is very easy to use, and the screen is phenomenal. It has every SQ feature that the cd8455 has, with the addition of a better EQ (L 16 bands, R 16 bands, each independent of one another). The 880 is also cheaper, looks better, has an amazing warranty with it, and has a removeable face.

880!!!!

If you desire flexibility, I would get the 880. The Eclipse 8445 doesn't hold a candle to the Pioneer as far as tuning options go. The Eclipse has the upper hand in pre-amp voltage, but I am sure it would negligible in reality. To be honest, unless you are running top-notch speakers/amps you wouldn't notice a difference in SQ. I would even venture to say that even then you wouldn't notice a difference. So in short, if you want options get the 880 or Eclipse 8455/7000.

The E-iserv is a neat concept, especially with the 8455, but the Pioneer also has a microphone that is used for Auto EQ.

Not to mention the 880 is one of the sexiest decks south of $1000 you'll find.

how does it have a better EQ? two totally different EQs. Pioneer is graphic and Eclipse is parametric. parametric > graphic. specifically you can change the "Q" on the eclipse. graphic has set center frequency, parametric you have a number of frequencies to choose from.

but overall the pioneer is a better bang for the buck, but by all means doesn't mean its better than the eclipse.

x2. Plus you have neglected to mention the sound!!! Hello??? The preamp section on the Eclipse 8v are second to none. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Parametric may be more flexible than a graphic eq but the Pioneer has independent left and right controls and the Eclipse does NOT.

How does the preamp section make it sound better?? How is an 8volt 55ohm preout sound THAT much better than a 5 volt 100ohm preout?? Please explain since you seem to know this.

just my opinion. i DO NOT want my mids let's say be playing different db levels. if you want to boost 800hz for the right side, and not on the left, then the mids will be playing at different levels. why would you want that?

Have you considered looking at the Naks from what I understand they are also a good quality deck, not too much in the way of 'bling' so to speak but they seem to do the job well from the feedback I've read. Just an fyi.
I run a 740mp..and up until now it's been fine, I don't think you can go wrong with Pio or Eclipse.

I have had Nak cd35z, cd45z and a cd400. great decks but little in processing and can be very picky. warm sounding. Kinda like my old clarion drz9255.

Because the whole purpose of an eq is to contour the sound of the system to compensate for the accoustics of the interior of the vehicle. Therefore, you may want to lower your mids for one side to compensate for the fact that the other side is being held down for whatever reason. In other words, the RTA would see both sides (at that frequency) playing at the same level.

I was wondering the same thing, only thing I can think is that placement and different angles it might help. i am sure I wont be tuning any different from left to right.

Because that's what makes the music silly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Where did I say that it sounded THAT much better?? I believe you need to re-read what I wrote.

I'll take 3 volts where ever I can get it quite frankly. Also, sound quality is NOT subjective. It is objective. You can measure it any way you want. True, a high quality deck with all the SQ capablility alone will not make you win world finals. But it sure doesn't hurt either.

Oh, and I know everything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

Yet, you have still neglected to explain how that makes the Eclipse pre outs "second to none". Thats like saying one amp is better than the other because one puts out 10 more watts per channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Not trying to call you out or anything but your reasoning doesn't make any sense.
