Pioneer Premier HU probs?

Ok, I was all set to get a Pioneer DEH-P680MP or a DEH-P860MP. Look like solid units that have everything that I need, BUT, I keep reading all these posts of people having problems with the ground and noise in the RCA's. Since I can't find an authorized Pioneer dealer online that has the models I want, I assume that if I bought from Ebay that I would have no warranty if the unit I received had these same problems.

Is this a big enough problem to keep someone from buying a Pioneer HU with no warranty? Or is it just a few people with defective units and/or improper installations?

i do a lot of pioneer installs. all premier lines, and never had any noise. but i do know of pioneer and their rca problems.

when it comes to a HU, id just get it some where with a warranty. so you wont run in to any problems.

My pioneer 680mp doesn't have any RCA line problems at all. Just keep the RCAs away from the power source.

Yeah, I was wondering if the people that were having the problem were running their RCA cables along the same runs as their power. I just think the 680mp is a hard deal to pass up for $200 with all the features it has and how cool it looks.

don't know if it is in the 680 since it's a new model, but the 860 was known for the problem and no it wasn't user error. it was a big enough problem that pioneer was fixing them for free. not sure if they are still doing that.

860s and 960s had a ton of preout issues as well as the faceplates on the 960s. Like posted above theres not gonna be much feedback on the 680 yet as its still new. Although Pioneer tends to be pretty solid with the exception of their brainfarts on the 860/960s...

Correct!! The *60 line or 2004 line were the models that had the issues. The 860s and 960s that were released in '05 I believe did not have this issue since they were fixed before they left the line. I would have to think the *80 or 2006 line will be fine.
