Stuck between the Pioneer TS D1720C or Morel Maximo 6.5s....opinions? both about same price. I've heard (own) the pioneers and love em! But some people tell me the Morels have better midbass....anyone have experience with both setup correctly?

Morels do carry better midbass, but I would prefer them in sealed pods honestly. They are a little quiet and do not get as loud as the pioneers, these would NEED to have an amp to them.

The pioneers were a little too bright for me, These carry a very warm, smooth sound. Not harsh in the slightest. Honestly they are both pretty **** good sets for the price, but after my experience with both I would have to go with the Morels. just wish they got louder.

from what youre saying, i think id try some as rear fill but not upfront. My pioneers have seemed bright to me, but using an EQ, i cut the 2.5k frequency by 2db and problem solved! midbass is crazy after i sealed em up. My only complaint is that the Pioneer tweet doesnt really seem to get those really high synthesized "ticks" in hip hop music. Other than that, I love em. Especially at $30 i paid for mine!

Get a 2x100 amp for the Morels, and I think you'll be happy. If you prefer a brighter and more "in your face" sort of sound, then the Pioneers would be a better fit for you. Morel speakers are generally laid back and mellow with solid midbass.

see thats what pulls me away from the Morel's I dont have near that much going to my Pioneers and they get plenty loud. I have about 50rms going to each set.

I have 125 w rms going to my morels and they get loud as **** and sound good doing it. Also they do pick up that stuff in the rap music. Even the 6x9's in the back pick it up. Besides you know that boston is putting out more than 50w rms,lol *underated*

cant be underrated by that much. youre still putting probably double the power I am to mine.

Ya , i would not want to put anymore to them. I gotta take it easy on the volume knob with like pantyraid and stuff cause they look like they gonna jump out the door,lol.

I actually thought about turning my amp down some .I'm shure you would be fine on your power, just wouldn't run them off h.u. power. Try them out, they are winning on the vote poll.

I wonder if the voters hhave actually heard both sets or just assume the Morel will sound better due to the name.....

most people are probably just hugging on morels nuts, but i've heard both sets I know from experience. Owned both, have had them in the same install.
