Do I need to remove the bypass to upgrade firmware?

i cant imagine that you would need to. I built an e-brake bypass with a relay years ago, but i have to power down then back on for it to work. Really thinking of buying the double throw one to eliminate that need

You are correct, I did not need to tamper with the bypass.
