I was told by a friend that there are plenty of people in this forum that know what they are talking about and are not complete aholes.
I just bought a Pioneer 7600 MP3 CD Player and a Kicker 12" L5 Dual 2 ohm voice coil which I placed in a 3/4 MDF 1.0 cu ft Sealed Enclosure. I connected everything using the stock cables and a 8 gauge amplifier kit which was already in the car from my previous setup. The Subwoofer is being powered by the Rockford Fosgate Punch 500a2. During the first day of use everything was fine and seemed to be running well. The next day I had some electrical problems which I thought was related to everything I had just installed in my car. After fixing the problem I reconnected the system and ended up with engine noise. I reconnected the RCA's to the Rear output of the HU and the engine noise was gone. So, when the RCA's are connected to the Subwoofer or Front I get engine noise. When connected to the rear it is fine but I would prefer to have it to the subwoofer preout. I've read in this forum and in several others that it could be an issue with the ground. My question is, Should I even bother trying to reground everything or should I just take back the HU?
I am also looking to upgrade my current setup with an EQ, another Sub or whatever else. I plan to eventually end up with 3 12" L5 or L7 but I also know that I should make sure I have enough power and take care of all the lose ends. I plan to move more towards SPL. I would appreciate any advice from your expert minds as to what my next step should be.
Thanks for paying attention to my noobie butt and again ANY help is greatly appreciated.
