pioneer home stereo system any good?

"tall" does not necessarily equate to "quality" when it comes to speakers, friend.

Some of the best speakers I have ever personally owned (and sadly no longer have) were under 3' tall //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

well yall dont have to flame me.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

i said i didnt know anything about home audio. i thought the tall speakers were speakers that would get loud. i need suggestions on speakers and an amp. i want it to put out good bass and get loud. loud is the main thing i want. but i also want good bass and i dont want it to sound like *** when i crank it up. lmk some suggestions.

I don't think any flames were directed at you in this thread. The closest we've gotten to a flame is my reply to Brandon, but that's just because it was a dangerous assumption //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't recommend line arrays to someone on your budget, all those speakers add up. Especially ones that have enough throw to satisfy your need for strong midbass/upper subbass.

If you can build things, take a look at PartsExpress' projects page, I'm sure they have something that will fit your musical tastes.

I have a Sony MHC-GX450, I'm listening to right now BTW, and it's plenty loud and it sounds great. No tall speakers though, if thats what you want. These can be had for under $200 and should be easy to find one. Heres some more information on it:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001LCZZQ/103-0941183-7489408?v=glance&n=172282

It has a 8" subwoofer in a ported enclosure which recieves 150W and the left & right speakers recieve 125W per channel. It may sound like it's weak but it's not. You can find these in alot of stores so you may be able to mess around with one in Wal-mart or an equivilent store to see if you like it.

I would agree with you this time, he just said loud and tall while i was sitting in front of my line arrays, so i couldent help but mention it.

They were quite labor intensive, and expensive though, not for the casual listener perhaps??

Im really not sure what to suggest that gets really loud with strong bass for under 200$ PA speakers come to mind....

I think the OP is looking for a bit more volume than that bookshelf system is capable of just at a guess...
actually those bookshelf gets pretty loud. I have the Sony MHC-GX9000 myself and I use it to watch movies. Probably not true surround sound but it saves space and usefull just to bump some music. I'm not sure if the OP just want a stereo or watching movies in surround sound. But a bookshelf system compliment quite nicely than those big setup just for music.

The original auction link I had was to a pair that was non-working, but a pair of Klipsch Heresy's will scream...and have a decent amount of bass down to 50Hz or so. Used, they can be found in the $200 range.

Oh wait, they're built before 1990 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I've been to their facility in Hope, AR, Jim.

That place is run like a well-oiled machine and everything was clean.

The speakers I was talking about earlier when I mentioned short speakers were a set of KG4 shorties I had once upon a time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Edit: Like these! They made me a true believer in the potential of a passive radiator //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Klipsch speakers have nothing to do with a love for older tube-driven gear.

It is much more a case of Klipsch just building top-notch gear. /story.

I've owned a set of KG4s like I linked to above and also a set of Tangent T40 towers. (exact same drivers as the KG4 but in taller cabinets) and they were flatly outstanding for their pricepoint.

I realize that, and I want some Klipsch because of the quality of them.

That last sentence didn't help out my pocket book any either.

The main differences between the Heresy's and the Forte's are that the latter are taller, heavier, and have bass response down to the 30's...and about three times as much on the used market. I've run sine sweeps on them...and it's scary what that 12" forward driver and 15" PR can do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

KG4's are nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I didn't go with them because IIRC, they're a little less efficient than the other ones...
