Advice Needed Amp Keeps Turning Off I Have Checked Everything?

I have a 2006 Volkswagen Passat with the stock stereo.. This is not the Dynaudio Stereo.. I installed a 15" JL W6 Sub, Diamond Audio D3600.1 Mono Sub Amp and a low level converter with bass knob.. The amp is installed with a good ground and dual fused positive wire from the battery.. The sub is wired for a DVC = 8OHM load.. The low level converter is tapped into the left and right rear speaker wires from the rear of the headunit..

Here is my problem.. When the volume is turned up to high on the HU, and the bass is turned up on the converter, the amp turns off.. It does not matter if the amp is cold or hot.. I have the gain turned almost all of the way down on the amp and the bass on the stereo is set at -9 which is maximum off for the bass.. Why is the amp going into protect mode? I have checked all of my connections and they are fine.. Please Help?

Thanks for the reply.. Does this mean that I cnnot use the bass control knob? How do I adjust the bass without clipping? Also, I am using a multimeter to set the amp gain on DC volts.. Where do I touch the probes on the amp to get a reading that does not fluctuate? Thanks
