Thanks gosharpie for the tip. So is this a limitation/problem with our phones and NOT the 9800? Yeah, I've noticed that when I turn on the cellphone at home, the BT is in discovery mode but then turns off.
Are there any bluetooth computers/laptops that automatically recognize a BT cellphone whenever the phone is nearby, without any manual activation, for phonebook transfer?
In terms of phonebook transferring, Gosharpie, I'm surprised seem editing and turning on your Obex didn't work. I read that the original Pioneer bluetooth HU that came out in Europe one year before was only made to work with Nokia, Siemens, Ericsson. So maybe there will be a software update for Motorola phones. We need a guy with an Ericsson phone to try it out. See post I found below.
"Other than the ericcson 750i that a friend has and can mark and send a whole phonebook, there is no way to transfer the phonebook to the car with one go. Especially with Nokia, which is my phone. You turn phone book transfer on, push the button so the headunit is ready, AND THEN SEND EACH CONTACT ONE BY ONE FROM THE HEADSET VIA THE SEND BUSINESS CARD FEATURE. IT IS NORMAL THAT THE BLUETOOTH WILL BE DISCONNECTED THE MOMENT THE HEADUNIT GOES IN STANDBY TO RECEIVE MODE. Do not worry. Proceed to the phone, go to send business card, hit yes, the phone looks for devices, finds the headunit, and you hit send and its gone. It does work. Once that is done, you can continue to do more contacts. Its a bit tedious and also hard for the headunit, as the moment the sending is done, the phone reconnects with the head unit, you try to send another, the phone disconnects from the unit, and then it sends adn reconnects. If you do it faster than the equipment can follow, you jam them and you have to start over"
