best idea is not to mount amp to your box....could shake fet's loose...
x2, not a good idea at all. eventualy it will cause solder joints to break loose.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the idea was to mount it on the back side of the box. i will only be pushing 400wrms tops , and i do have rubber feet from treadmills that i get from work.

i just need to stop the box from sliding in my blazer and do something with the amp. mounting it to the box seem to be the easiest. throw on another piece of mdf the size of the amp on the back side of the box, and mount it to that using the rubber feet.

my thing is , would having a screw come through the port wall be a problem? the slot port takes up 1/3 of the back of the box and the amp needs to be secured...?

Ive yet to see anyone show actual evidence their amp was damaged due to mounting it to the box. Yet its done all the time. Furthermore, if you mount the box to the floor rigid like you are suppose to, a good portion of the vibrations will be transfered to your remote mounted amp rack anyway.

If you are anal, or really worried about it, mount an isolation layer using foam or rubber between the amp(s) and box.

ive always thought the same thing.

since you drive a blazer , let me ask you , whats do you think is the simplest way to keep my box from sliding (or beaming at my head in case of an accident) without making a false floor or bolting through the floor.

right now im at getting one or two of those 'O' bolts , a couple washers , and lock nuts and use a tie down strap to the loops that are already in the cargo area.

I've heard people say "don't mount it on the box" all the time. I've been in car audio for 15+ years and have yet to have amp issues from it. 98% of the time my amps have been mounted on my boxes hitting numbers upwards of 150+ and NEVER had a problem with it.

If you wont go thru the floor, Im not sure how to suggest mounting the box that would be secure. Wedging it to the back seat would not be safe in an accident, for example.

ive had it wedged before , and it was very unsafe and constantly slid around the back. the only way i can think of is using the tie down straps on the loops in the back, but im still putting a bolt through the port wall...

just ask retro.....the memphis 4k went into smoke b/c of vibrations shaking loose parts....but hey i've seen it happen...sorry i dont have pictures to show you that here's before, during, and after....just not that quick with the camera.

As long as your enclosure is built solid with no flexing, you should not have any problems with your amplifier mounted to it.

Technically, if vibration from your enclosure were to kill the amp, then what about your trunk panels vibrating from the sound pressure? Better yet, if you have crappy highways like Louisiana where the rough ride will jar your amplifiers way more than your subwoofers can //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
