i took out my backseats and made that wood to cover up where my battery and stuff is. i'll be covering the wood in matching carpet once i give the dimensions to my boss tomorrow because he wasn't there today. i work at GM so he said we shouldn't have any problem at all finding matching carpet.

this is a temporary install until early july, but i'd gone over a year with absolutely no music in that car, and i got sick of waiting. in july i'm buying some 8'' assassins and fiberglassing them in the back.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!

Does that sub really sound better facing foreward??
i haven't really played around with it yet. my car is so small i'm not even sure if it would make a difference. but i'm going to play with it a little over the weekend once i have time.

How does it sound?
i have mixed feelings. the sub is a lot louder than it was in my mazda, i guess because it's such a smaller space. so i'm happy with that. but i just bought a pair of new CDT components that i planned on having installed, but they don't fit anywhere in my door because of how my windows are and because of how deep they are, so i had to buy a pair of kenwood shallow coaxials to put in until i have time to fiberglass my own kickpods, which won't be until early july.

i'm pretty confident that once i install the cdt's i'll be extremely happy with it.

but it's 100000 times better than having no music at all, which is how that car has been for the last year and some odd months...

can you not just build an mdf spacer so the cdt's will fit?
it's kind of confusing trying to explain the inside of my car to anyone who hasn't had experience with the old beetles, so i'll just draw this picture...

doorpanel.jpg

the yellow line is inside the doorpanel, and that's my window arm. it's in the way everywhere except for the very bottom front corner, so if I mounted it there, it would be going directly into my legs and the passengers legs. if I mount it any farther back then it will be going directly into the seat, and that's if it's flushmounted. if i put a spacer in the back, my speaker will actually hit my seat everytime I open and close the door, assuming I could even get the door closed with the speaker there.

it sucks, but in july i'll fiberglass some kicks and the problem will be gone.
