Okay, just looking for a little enlightenment here when it comes to the Big3.. I heard the positive post on the Alt. is usually red, so I found a little red nut but there's nothing already connected to it from what I see and I'm wondering if that's the actual positive mount...

Then, my negative battery terminal has a wire running off it that seems to dissapear into the fuse box or somewhere under the engine block... in any case it gets bolted down at one point - would it be a good ground?

lemme know if anything is unclear as im recharging my cam's batteries (only let me take like 3 snapshots before so hopefully these two are ite)

You will see a thick wire (12-10 guage or so) going into the alt it will be attached by way of a bolt and it usually has a soft plastic hood over the connection point.

You can hook the battery to the frame as close to the battery's negative terminal as possible.

Chibahawk- the first pic in your post is just a mounting bolt on the front of the alternator. look on the back of it to find the pos connection. It is usually below a clip with a bunch of wires running to the voltage regulator. it will almost always have a rubber boot over it.The second pic you posted is your neg ground to the frame from your battery. THIS IS HOW I DID MY TRUCK WITH THIS GROUND-I cut the mounting clamp off of this wire that mounts to the neg post on the battery and crimped a copper bolt terminal to this wire and secured this to the chassis. Then I bought two battery clamps -- the ones that have multiple wire connections on them. I ran a one awg wire from the neg post and attatched it to the same ground as in the second pic . I also ran another one awg from this same grounding point to the bolt on the alternator that is in the first pic you posted. Now go back to your battery neg and add about a eight inch 4 awg wire to the terminal and secure this to the chassis beside your battery. All that is left for you to do now is to run a 1 awg wire from the pos on the back of the alt to your battery. [ On my f-150 the wire from my alternator runs straight to the solinoid. Then to the battery pos.]Hope this has helped.
