Lol... i still have one of those phones in addition to my black berry...

Here's what you do:

-Download the driver for your phone

-get the MSL number to unlock the phone by either calling customer service to activate your phone, or using an MSL reader

-Download a program called QPST *somewhere* think torrents or filesharing

-Use the QPST file explorer to copy the pictures off of your phone and onto your computer

a similar method can be used to install ringtones and games on the phone without having the data plan.

OR

you could just buy a transflash card and transflash adapter and a card reader (the card and adapter should have been included with the phone). Put the transflash card into the phone, use the "move pictures" option. Pull it out, stick it into the adapter and then into the flash card reader and move it onto your computer.

I got the right file downloaded and unzipped. It just doesnt regocnize my phone as being connected when I click on the appropriate drive in my computer..... How do I get it to search for the drivers again?

I wont be buying any adpaters or anything of the sort, Id like to be able to just plug in theis data cable like the phone should be able to do, I wont be saving things onto the memory card, just the phones memory itself so thats what i need

It's easy. If you haven't gotten it yet. On your phone under settings or menu you need to tell it to "connect to PC" once you have it plugged into your computer. Then it'll show up in my computer.

download and install samsung pc studio.

it will allow you to browse the contents of the phone in it;s own program instead of through windows explorer

^^^ I don't think you need that. You just need to tell it to connect to the pc in the settings menu. I can't remember how to do it exactly but it's like that on almost all Samsung phones.

So you're saying you've got the a920 drivers and QPST installed?

If not, get them.

if you aren't going to use the memory card and adapter that came with the phone, then this is the only way to get pictures off without using the internet. edit: nevermind, looks like samsung pc studio is also an alternative... i just like this method because it gives you direct access to the phone's memory and allows you to change settings, add ringtones, reprogram the phone, etc...
