ANyways Im just about the check impedance when my gf gets back with a new 9v battery

I measured the coil and pole diameters though

My motor has a pole diameter of 2.946" and my recone has an internal diameter of 3.000", a difference of .054"

Is that acceptable??

Coils measure in @ 1.9ohm per side

matters, because there are certain people that do good recones, it would help if you told us.

Such as, why didn't u just go to AQ and get a recone there?

I cleaned the assembly and placed the recone in... gapzilla on the surround..... with the spiders just sitting on the landing.

You can still use the recone, the cone is just a bit too deep... but the next question will be whether or not the coil will be properly centered with the topplate... this is a good example of why 'drop in' recones arn't always ideal...

IMO you should try to return the recone for a refund.. then send the sub out for a proper recone, or get a drop in from someone who knows what is needed for that particular sub.. (I don't).. either that or get a recone from AQ which may or maynot be what you are after either...

strange! that is a really deep cone must have been designed for a 7" spider or a single linear 8". even with the spacers i but that coil is underhung. i would also send it back give ur guy a chance to make it rite for you.

i would be more than willing to build you a proper recone for that sub. i would just need to know ur top plate thickness and ur basket riser height...

I built that recone. The coil height is fine. It was mocked using spare HDC3 spacers from other HDC3 18's I have built and the top plate height I was given to use. I needed a coil with a longer former then the one I wanted to use. The coil here is a D2 8 layer alum flat wound coil I have stocked. The coil is dark from the the process of being wound at PE.. I used a stronger cone I like that's deeper, I have used them many times and work great.

if there is ever a problem i wish people would contact who they bought it from before posting. he could have cleared it up for you.

at least it isnt a high excursion sub cause gluing the surrond down with that gap will pull and limit the up stroke...
