CoilBurner

Hey guys, my first ever recone of a subwoofer here, I blew my HDC318 copper coil a few months back and decided to get a recone for it. Im not quite sure if this recone is for me or not though, but Ive never done a recone and im not entirely sure what I have here.
I was told I was getting
"The coil is a flat wound alum coils with a stainless steel former and has a WW of 2.3" You will pretty much have LVL5 soft parts and coil in them, so they will take what you fell comfortable throwing at them""
Like I said Ive just never see the inards of a subwoofer but Ive got a few questions.
Comparing this new recone coil to my old one, the ORIGINAL coil had an OD of 3.393" measuring the outside of the coil, this new coil is 3.246, quite a bit thinner:eyebrow:
.
ALso appears to be copper to me but maybe thats the way aluminum looks when treated??
I also measured the coil height of the new recone, the height of the coil windings and my new recone measures in @ 1.7", and the old recone measures in a 2.1" area. Was I told this part was going to be 2.3"?? I dont know what the term WW he used meant
I also have concerns with gaps, but I dont know how much room Im supposed to have.
Hope someone can clear this up for me thanks!
