I did some checking for ya cause the parts look like DC stuff. Did Scott make your recone?

The aluminum will look like copper because of the glue or treatment on them i think. A while back i bought a recone from jacob that was aluminum and it looked copper so i asked him and thats what he told me.

Edit: Also if you changed the Impedence of the coils the height would be different i believe.

im thinking he might of. the surrounds, leads etc. look like scotts handy work. get in touch with him he is a busy guy and if he sent you the wrong re-cone he will make it right.

ww is winding width not hieght.

Winding width is the height of the coil, aka the width when you're winding it as the former is sitting horizontally.

Sorry i took so long to reply I was at work. Theres a lot more problems with this order than I care to mention and Im not trying to bash anyone, I just want to educate myself a little before I present the problem to the person I bought them from. I purchased 2 recones, only one has arrived thus far though, I was hoping the other one would come today and I could compare the 2

Anyways, so Im a little ticked off that I didnt receive the 2.3" coil I thought I was going to, that would mean it could thermally take more power right??

I havent measured impedance yet, I asked for D2's but I havent bought amps yet so it really wouldnt bother me what I got aslong as the 2 subs wired to something Id like

I think Im gonna go take my basket off the motor so I can measure the motor pole and coil internal diameter,.

I wanted to put alot of power to these subs.....

Given the same gauge and type of wire, yes.. and with an overhung sub it also means more xmax..

also means more weight. for spl taller coils isnt always key. if the top plate is thick enough dosent mean less excursion. depends on the sub...

To check impedance do you simply only have to put your leads to one of the tinsels on each side or do you need to be touching both, since there is 4 tinsels per side

4 leads means eather 8 layer or bifolar prob 8 layer. each double lead has to touch the dmm probe.
