LONG but please read, this could be fun!
1967 fastback mustang (looks just like eleanor) has a 427 stroker and a t56 6 speed ******, 4.11 rear end. ted's dyno shop 568 hp, 608 tq.

ok so my father has a super nice 67, however his system is lacking big time. if you're not familiar with a 67 the original sound systems ****, they are a factory stereo + 1 under dash 4x10" speaker. HOWEVER, technology has grown and so has the demand for audio upgrades on these old cars, so here is what we are working with now:
HU is staying where it is, its a retro new oldschool model and works great.
the underdash speaker has been removed (although feel free to suggest putting it back in there, i just never thought it sounded good having music blast off your front windshield in every direction. they now make a custom door kickpanel that holds 6.5" speakers, he has already bought and installed these and put a wal-mart set of pioneers in them, sounds pretty bad lol. next up we have a rear fold down panel that once again they came out with a custom one that holds 2 6x9"s which he has once again put a set of pioneers in. systems sounds so so when car is off, when the big 427 is running the system cannot even be heard.
so my mother and i are going all out, the biggest issue is finding a way to get bass in this baby, i dont want an ugly box in the trunk, i have thought about 4x10" under dash and mid bass in kickpanels. or maybe a custom box that fits in the back corner of the trunk (but then im concerned the hatch door that holds the 6x9"s are going to rattle like crazy. price limit is 5,000$. tell me what you would do. normally if this were my system id build it myself, but being that it is going to be a surprise, id love to hear from the experts:
his fav music is classic rock (imagine that) although i am getting him into some new rock as well.
my first thoughts are get rid of his 5 way pioneer speakers for some focal 2 ways in the door panels, focal 2 way 6x9's in the back, and a 12" sub of some sort tucked away nicely in trunk. maybe a 10". obv with amps to power them. already has 105amp alternator upgrade, not great but not horrible. red top optima. any other questions feel free to ask.
