Im just wondering. All this power we use to drive speakers, I dont completely understand since head unit power can generally make the free air door speakers we use reach their excursion limits. However when you add an amplifier it suddenly seems as if the speaker can go louder and cleaner. I dont understand if the speaker is already at its mechanical limits how it can produce more bass? It is not like it is moving faster since that would alter frequency reproduction so what is it exactly?
On a different note, right now I just put in some JBL GT5-652 ( 45w rms 6 1/2 coax ) and am receiving an amplifier soon that is going to be 75w x2 ( right now off HU power ). Im also going to be running a Single RESrx 15" (running off mrp-m650 @ 600rms ) in a sealed box with stock rear fill. Is the sub going to be way too much for these speakers to keep up with ? Should I be investing in some budget components under $100? I would only consider it if they were going to make a big difference otherwise I have other places to spend the money. Thanks
Matt
