Okay so im building a system for my buddy. Talked him into a rsd12d and a 600w rms @ 2 ohm alpine. Ive seen some crazy variations of recommended sizes on sale sites from 2.2-3.2cubes. What tuning and how many cubes would you guys recomend? Its going in a lancer, and there is not problem giving up half of the trunk.

i just made my friend a box for one. Its 2.5 cu. ft. and tuned to 28hz. They like to be tuned low, but you dont necessarily have to go that low. im installing it this weekend or next week. ill let you know how it sounds if you havent chose already. by the way i used Moe's plans for the box.

Okay i dont really understand those specs. It says 3 cubes for SQ and 1.8 for SPL. I would have thought it the other way around. Why is it that way?

I believe that when its in a small enclosure the sub tends to peak, therefore making it louder at one part of the spectrum; and a bigger box will smooth out the response and blend in more.

Alrighty, so maybe a happy medium between the two? Some thing like 2.4? I dont want it just loud in one end, but i would like the output to be impressive. Or should i just go with the 1.8? i dont want to sound like *** either.

2.4 would be a good medium depending on what you tune it to. what do you want, SQL?

Yeah SQL is what i had in mind. I dont plan for this guy to win any comps SQ or SPL, but i would like the output to be impressive. Everyone around here has systems that sound like ***, and i dont want one of the first i setup for someone else to be underwhelming in output or sound quality. What should i tune to?

id say around 30 or 32hz. ill be installing my friends rsd in the 2.5 cu. ft. box tuned to 28hz. ill let you know how it sounds.

Awesome, i havent heard much buzz about these around the forum but reviews ive read have be fantastic. If its anywhere near the hype for the cost it will be impressive. When do you plan on putting his in?

the sub and wire come tuesday and the amp comes thursday. So im hoping to wire it all up and put it in the box and then when the amo gets here ill just throw that in.

1.8cf works great from several reviews i have seen, and even PG will tell you to put it in a 1.cf

tune it low if you are going more for a sq then a spl setup
