Does turning on a HPF produce a phase shift?

On my pioneer gm-d1004 which powers my door speakers when I turn the HPF on I lose lots of bass from the sub until I switch its phase to 180.

The sub is a Kenwood underseat, high level input (input signal straight from the head unit before the gm-d1004)

If I turn the hpf off I again lose bass on the sub until turned back to its original phase setting.

It can, it depends on the series of filter the amp is using.

When in doubt, use an app called Signal Generator and play tones in the tens. The phase will be easier to distinguish.
