People with polk speaker experience

Its only undersized if you have more than a 1db loss. He does not. Also we are talking 5 to 6 amps of current. It should be more than sufficient.
so i should set the gains to around 140-150 so the speaker sees a 135rms

Heres my opinion.....

Since you already have the wire and this is not a major build, I say its cool to run it.

But, I would suggest, again, to upgrade to something thicker that will flow current better.

I ran a Sundown 1500d on a 4 gauge power wire for a lil while (even though its got 0/1 gauge Power and Ground hookups), but I never took it below 2ohms.

Never had one issue, but 0/1 would have been much better and prob gave me more output at 2ohm as well.

Upgrade your wire when funds are ava.

well i hav kicker 1/0 ran from batt to the dist block and i have 4 guage running to the zx850.4 and i have 1/0 to the zx1500.1 and i am using 8 guage for the subs and 18 guage for the comps

so 145 at 20 feet would give me 128rms and 15 feet would give me 132rms
my range is inbetween 15-20 feet so tht would work right
You are taking power ratings way too literal and way over thinking this. It is not that complicated. Set it correctly. If you arent happy change it. If you can no longer change it get something else. Only you can decide what sounds ok.

I dont mind helping you but more than 10 threads about damn near the same thing is a little excessive. Feel free to try things yourself.

ok i set it at 135rms

one more question since i am unsure i have my gains set at that rms with my hu 35/50 70% max or would it be louder if i set my gains with HU 38/50 being 75% max or would if not make a difference since the amp is putting out the same power either way when i set my gains at the same no matter wat voulme its on

well just blew them

haha j/k i got it set at 135rms and get pretty darn loud and sound good, they get loud enough when listening at full volume they make my ears start to ring when i turn the truck off haha, not sure if that means loud or hash i have the crossover set at -3db and the HU at 0 on treble and the bass i have also is at 0 and i have the slope on the amp at 80hz

I really love my polk momo's, even have a pair of db tweets to boot. I feed them 100 rms and thew will scream alll day long. I love the sq and such a natural sound. It also helps that I have major tweeking abilities from my Excelon X-990.

wat do you mean pair of db tweets to boot

and yea i am thinking of getting another pair of momo's maybe the 5.25's or the 6.5's because the 65's are cheaper and put the speaker in the rear and mount the tweet up front along with the other set of tweets upfront and just dont turn the gains up too much, thats only if i need the extra highs

well i have had them for 2 weeks with 135rms i think this weekend i am gonna set the gains up to 150 and see how they do

any input from people who used polks b4
