People actually buy EMF?

That's a lot of Root Mean Squares. Sounds awfully impressive.... one thing never changes in car audio, when you put big numbers in your advertising people buy your products.

Actually I've found modeling software to be very accurate. This is the cop-out line for companies that make a bad sounding woofer to hide the fact from would-be buyers. What's interesting is to note that none of these folks (nor any actual engineer or physicist) will come up with a rebuttal to Thiele and Small's work in predicting loudspeaker response. Rest assured if there was a better way to predict response it would have been figured out by now, and if Thiele and Small's work was in error it would have certainly be proven wrong by the industry by now.

In short, the only people who won't publish TSPs are those who don't want you to look at theirs.

Most of the "changes" are cosmetic or durability related only. I'll vouch for the fact that the slight changes in cones over the years did not change TS parameters or make things "incompatible".
That's what I was getting at. I think he is incorrect in saying that T/S specs are useless

Perhaps stuff also doesn't change as ofter as you perceive it -- I simply share more information than almost any other company for even small tweaks & tunes that I make.
You know the SA-12 has been out since 2009 and has been pretty consistent with only small tweaks made over the years.

The Z v.4 is going on 2 years with only small tweaks before the Rev.2 motor (which is still compatible with all current Z v.4s), the Z v.3 is going on 4 years, the SA-8 v.2 went over 3 years in production before I made the v.3 model, the SD-2 series ran for over 3 years (SD-3 is coming out), the E series v.1 went 2 years, the v.2 is on 1.5 years right now and still available, the X series went 2 full years before the v.2 revision, the E8 v.3 ran for 2 years before the v.4 came out, etc, etc.

I guess I don't get the whole "Sundown stuff changes every 2 weeks..." mentality when most products will go 2+ years before a version change... and some, like the SA-12s, have been around for over 5 years with only progressive tweaks.

I will say this -- YES -- if I see somewhere to improve a product in it's lifespan without making it incompatible with current models & also fitting within the budget for production I will do it right away. Like when we made XL leads standard on almost everything a year or so ago, like when I tweaked & tuned the surround and cone bodies a bit over the years on the SA series, so on, and so forth.

I also won't just sit on a great new idea for years before releasing it... if I think my new idea is that much better then I will make it and offer the superior product as a new version as soon as I can. So, I guess, you think I should just keep a good idea in my pocket for 10 years before releasing something new ?
I think it is good to keep making changes. I don't see why that's a bad thing. I plan on getting some Neo pro v.2 8's and SA 2.75's. Would these be good paired active?

It's false that the Z and NS have only been around for a few years and they are in version 4 and 3? The SD is already on 3? I have nothing against SAs equipment, the nuthuggers crack me up at times since MOST sundown owners came straight from low end mainstream and have no clue.
Actually yes that is false. The NS v1 came out in 2008. I wouldn't call six years a short time for three revisions at all. Also the Z v1 was around 2009 or so... It was the shortest lived in our line I'd say. The v2 had a 1.5 year or so run, and the v3 is still available alongside the v4 model.

The SD series started in 07-08 as well... Most people don't remember the first ones. But the SD2 was around for 3 full years.

6 years for 4 versions is a lot. All that does is make fanboys buy new stuff every year.
Not really. We still recone every version. Most even with original parts if they choose.

Or they can elect to use new parts. All of our 3 inch motors can mate with new soft parts.

As I said... V3 and v4 are also concurrent products.

You can say what you want. I see it to many times... Sundown has a new version so I must have it even though mine are brand new. It's cool you built a fan base like that. I would rather see new people spending money with you than most others. Why you have Sean on your payroll I don't get. You have lost sales because of him but I doubt that matters.
