Peavy Subwoofer

Hello. I had a bass amp that I had been using for a while that finally blew. It was a Peavy Minx powered bass amp. Anyhow the speaker inside it is still in good condition and works just fine. The subwoofer is 10" in diameter. Something in the amp went bad. Tried replacing fuses and it just shoots blue sparks and dies again. Anyhow I took apart the cabinet and got the speaker out. I played some music through it with an mp3 player and an adaptor I made and it sounds good. Anyhow I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the power handling capabilities of it or anything. I know it won't be that good or exactly... very smart to work with but, it's more just a little project to spend some time on. Anyhow if I could find the power handling I could get a low power amp to run it. I am guessing it's probably not too high power oriented. It just doesn't look like high power subs do. Anyhow if anyone has anything to chip in or any advice or experience I'd appreciate it! I don't want to bust this subwoofer because it's rare that I get something like this to play with lol. firstly...that isnt a car speaker...its professional audio i think...i know some about professional audio...i would guess its about 200w peak...give it 100w and increase it slowly...if it takes the increase power then it would be 150w 0r 200w rms...if it doesnt then its 100w...but most profesional speakers dont push as much watts as car speakers...so i highly doubt it being over 200w rms...but i can be wrong...but im sure im not

I wont be more than 200 watts rms. Look at it like this most high end heads are 200 watts and they run 4 x 12" per cabinet and most run dual cabinets (a stack) most bass amps run 2 - 4 15" subs on the same power so your 10" might only be 50 watts rms. in a house you dont need as much power as in a car that why you dont see 2000 watt home stereo equipment. I guess 110 AC handles it better than 12v DC?

this can be true.....but i had a speaker like this.....different in ways though....and that was 100w rms

Ive had many, I played guitar for 19 years //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif it might be 100 watts but I wouldnt bass that as the minumum cause Ive seen 25watt speakers on old 20 watt amps, as a matter of fact I have a 25watt Marshall next to me and it has a 40 watt speaker in it.

Anyhow what is the final verdict? What should I look for.
