Any one ever seen this? Looks pretty crazy. Imagine 4 of these straped to a box with 4 real subs. I wonder how they perform???

you n00b...

a PR system is acoustically very similar to a regular bass reflex enclosure. They're used for HT a lot because the very low tunings required for insane LFE reproduction makes using regular ports a ***** - port lengths get hella long. PR's allow relatively smaller boxes to be used, because you don't need all that room for the port system.

Why don't you see them more often???

Love Crutchfield's description; n00b fishin' like a mu2#$^@#$%!

Would you like to add extra bass to your system without taking up extra space or adding more power? Boston's GTR TunableRadiators are "passive radiators" — shallow, non-powered speakers designed to be used in conjunction with Boston G5 subwoofers. When mounted into a box along with a G5 sub, the radiator's cone moves with the air pressure created by the powered G5 sub, reinforcing bass output without requiring extra power.

Adding this GTR10 passive radiator to a sub box with a 10" G5 subwoofer can increase output by up to 3 dB — that's almost twice the volume. And, since it's only 3 inches deep, you can add it to almost any sub box. The GTR10 has three tuning modes, allowing the listener to adjust the sound and bass output to their musical preferences and box size.

Yeah, they're not being deceptive at all when they say you can add a PR to "almost any sub box". Forget you have to tune it, or place it in an appropriately sized box (much like a vented system), it fits in "almost any sub box" due its 3" of mounting depth!
