Apparently the judge is pissed at what has happened and may lay a "smack down" on Paris and perhaps the Sheriff as well.
If indeed she was in some sort of desperate state generally the detention unit contacts a state psychologist to visit her and conduct an interview to appraise her state. If there was a dangerous situation she could be referred to an institution for observation and care, usually lasting 10 to 30 days.
If this were to occur it would be on her permanent record forever.
At least this is how the system works(ed) in the Massachusetts Juvenile system when I worked in it a few years ago.
California may be significantly different and the adult system even more so but the Mass adult system was similar to the best of my knowledge.
Unfortunately this gives our justice system another well deserved black eye. If you have money and connections you can get away with murder.
Ah well I hold onto the hope of Karma...
